Benji Madden’s Romantic Gesture?

If you haven’t heard by now….tattooed covered bad boy Benji Madden tied the knot in an intimate little wedding last month in Beverly Hills, LA. And who was the lucky girl caught sneaking off to the alter covered in a sheet?….none other than the blonde actress with whom he has been dating since May last year, Cameron Diaz. I have to hand it to the couple, they certainly did a great job keeping there happy little nuptials under wraps….or bed linen as it were. Media outlets across the US and Australia have been scrambling for any information they can tease fans with. Well, they certainly have a great piece of information now!

It seems that when Benji likes to keep track, or record a significant event in his life he likes to keep his ‘notes’ close to his chest. I guess he didn’t want to loose a piece of paper or anything. So to remind himself of not only the most romantic and special day of his life, but who it was he devoted the rest of his life to, he had Cameron’s name imprinted for eternity across his chest! Now that’s devotion!

The big tough teddy bear is a very happy man these days. Since September 2011 when his american rock band, Good Charlotte, decided to take a break Benji decided to explore different musical styles with his twin brother, and fellow Good Charlotte band member Joel. During 2012, it was revealed that both Benji and Joel had recorded an album together under the new name “The Madden Brothers”…..original. The first release in May of 2014 titled We Are Done became a success, reaching top 40 charts around the world.

In 2012, Benji appeared on the TV show The Voice Australia alongside Joel. In mid 2014, both of the Madden brothers appeared as coaches on The Voice Kids Australia, providing plenty of playful banter to Australian audiences. They really like to do things together….I wonder if…..hmmm not going there! 😉 Earlier this year it was announced that Benji would be joining Joel on The Voice as a coach, bringing the number of coaches from four to five.

Cameron Diaz…or Mrs Diaz-Madden?  the lucky meat in the Madden sandwich…. has been well known for such romantic comedies as My Best Friends Wedding (1997), There’s Something About Mary (1998), The Holiday (2006) and What Happens In Vegas (2008). She was also in one of my most recent favourite romantic comedies The Other Woman (2014). Yes, it was a tad flat, but the funny scenes with playboy Mark (played by Nicolaj Coster-Waldau) sure made up for it. Not only is Cameron a fabulous actress, I was surprised to discover Cameron is also a novelist, publishing a health book last year called The Body Book. Is their anything she can’t do? She has to have a few flaws, damn it….

Well, dare I say it but Cameron has had a teeny weeny, itty bitty bit of bad luck when it comes to llloovvveee….not that she has an extra nipple or a bizarre toe fettish or anything (that we know of), the woman simply has not found ‘the one’. Not through a lack of trying though. Cameron has been linked to actors Matt Dillon and Justin Timberlake as well as New York Yankees baseball star Alex Rodriguez. But I guess they just didn’t show enough of a commitment to the actress. Well now, that sure has been rectified, hasn’t it!

Jokes aside, I do wish Cameron and Benji all the best. We have all witnessed enough celebrity hook-ups and break-ups over the years to know that dating under close scrutiny of media and fans would be extremely difficult. I obviously don’t know what it would be like to be in their shoes, but I would imagine that it must be rather stressful at times. So to the happy couple I say – congratulations, all the best for your future together and remember, marriage is the one of the most challenging things you will ever do in your life, but also one of the most rewarding. You should always be working at it, communicating, listening….being there for each other. Remember to tell each other how much you care and always… always… keep the romance alive.
