Woohoo…In the words of Shania Twain “Man, I feel like a woman!” and boy did I, when Channing Tatum started his hip thrusts while using the electric sander, I could actually feel a sweat break out across my chest. What that man can do with electrical equipment leaves nothing to the imagination. He can use me to rub down his wood any day 😉
Ever been to Gold Class? No? Well I haven’t been that often myself, but my partner received gift vouchers for his birthday last year, and considering August 28th was rolling around quicker than expected, we decided to hurry up and use them. So we picked up our Gold Class tickets last Saturday night and got comfy for a evening or relaxation and fun. When we first arrived at Village Cinemas in Southland, the host seated us in a gorgeous little plush seating area. A waitress came and took our drinks order and soon we were relaxing to light music and a fine glass of bubbly. The mood was set! It was so wonderful to sit back and catch up with my partner, no kids interrupting us, no work commitments, just him..and I..the two off us in our little corner. Its was lovely.
A lovely waiter came over and asked us about our menu choices. So we chose Prawn Twists to be delivered during the first half of the movie and a selection of Dumplings during the second half. You can either eat before the movie starts or you can arrange a selection of meals or snacks to be delivered during the movie. It wasn’t long before everyone was ushered into the intimate cinema. Seated up the back right hand side we got cosy in our large comfy chairs, and after my partner found the button that reclines the seat and raises the foot rest, we were ready for things to heat up. The lights dimmed and giggles could be heard around the small room. The music started and we all nuzzled into our seats. Ok Channing….its time for you do your thing!
Mike (Channing Tatum) is trying to make ends meet. It has been three years since he decided to turn his back on stripping, opting for a more laid back life making furniture and spending time with the love of his life. But, poor Mike’s life hasn’t worked out quite as well as he hoped. His finances have hit rock bottom and he can no longer afford staff. He misses his old life, reminiscing of the good old days while he grinds metal and rubs over his wooden creations. So when his old friends invite him along for a weekend of debauchery, he finds it difficult to say no…Its only a weekend…right!?! So the guys travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C., for a stripper convention. But its not all smooth sailing. After finding a new MC (none other than Jada Pinkett Smith) their road trip takes on a life of its own. Teaching a group of woman how they aught to be treated ignited there loins and has them ramped up for the performance of their lives.
Channing Tatum, Gorgeous Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer and his sweet pipes, Hulky Kevin Nash, Jada Pinkett Smith, Adam Rodriguez, Amber Heard, Elisabeth Banks and Andie MacDowell make up some of the fabulous cast. If you haven’t seen the movie yet and are still unsure, check out the MOVIE TRAILER, and see whether you could live without watching these guys thrust their hips and strip off their clothes for your viewing pleasure. If you have watched it, leave a message and let me know what you thought of it.
In regards to the whole Gold Class experience, I am still undecided whether or not its something I would recommend. The staff were polite however there were a few problems. Each platter of food cost $18 and there was only a very small portion on each plate. The waitress brought out both plates at the start of the movie disregarding what we had planned. When I questioned her, she said it was ok, they would bring the dumplings back out later in the movie. The dumplings when brought out were hard as a rock, I would say as a result of being re fried. I had two glasses of wine, at $9.00 per glass. The cost was normal and didn’t bother me, however receiving both glasses that were only filled about a 1/4 of the way was just ridiculous. I have worked in hospitality and I knew it was well below par. I wasn’t the only person in the room questioning the level. My partner had two Boag’s Light and received the standard beer and accompanying glass both times.
Before the movie started, an advertisement played on the screen re the Gold Class experience. I will say this, what you see in that ad, and what you get are two complete opposites. So for the experience, it cost us –
$79.00 (2 tickets)
$10.00 (online booking fee)
$18.00 (Prawn Twists)
$18.00 (2 Moscato’s)
$12.00 (2 Boag’s)
$155.00 for movie and snacks
Worth it? You decide. It was fun, but would I do it again, probably not too often. I would rather go to a nice cosy restaurant and enjoy a fabulous meal then go to a late night screening. Or movie, dinner and a cosy bar for late night cocktails…… thats just my thoughts
