Our weekends are precious. After being busy all week, most of us want to relax and enjoy quality time with our family and friends. If you are like me, you have probably worked all week with one purpose in mind — getting to the weekend and doing something fun! It doesn’t have to be anything outrageous, but getting out of the house, even for a short time is imperative. A coffee at a local cafe, a walk along the beach or to throw a frisbee at a nearby park, we all need some time to unwind and have fun with our loved ones.
My partner and I have been looking forward to catching up with good friends Vanessa and Tony. They are an absolute blast to be around. They are both genuine, witty, entertaining people whom you never have to struggle for conversation. After talking to Vanessa during the week, we decided to catch up at the South Melbourne Market for brunch. After meeting Vanessa at the Chefs Hat, opposite the roundabout on Coventry Street, we crossed the road and found Tony at Koy Turkish Restaurant.
After more hugs and some friendly banter we decided to order something light. Not just because it was late breaky, but also due to Tony feeling a tad under the weather. It seems someone held him down and forced him to consume too much alcohol last night 😉 As most of us know, what is better for a hangover than something light and a tad greasy. The boys ordered a few of Koy’s Gozleme platters, Cheese and Spinach, Herbed Chicken and Mushroom and Vegetables for a reasonable $10.00 each. Each platter was served with a yoghurt dipping sauce to die for, a secret recipe of the cook for sure 🙂
After some caffeine and more water, Vanessa took us on a tour. The South Melbourne Market is a fabulous inner city icon that has been around since the mid 1800’s. With over 140 businesses that offer a huge variety of fresh food – freshly grown fruits and vegetables. Fish and Poultry to yummy seafood and organic meats. There is also a fabulous range of delicious cheeses, clothing, gifts, hairdressers, wines, eye wear, florist, Chinese medicine and even a tarot card store. The South Melbourne Market has everything you could think of and more!
If your travelling to Melbourne, then you will want to visit this wonderful iconic establishment. To get to the market, there are numerous Tram Routes or Bus Services. If you are driving, Parking is available on the rooftop car park or nearby streets. Grab a bite to eat, try the delicious South Melbourne Market Dim Sims 🙂 – tummy!!!! And interact with the local identities and absorb the atmosphere of this wonderful establishment. A wonderful idea for spending time with your loved ones.
