We all remember Jennifer’s 20-something character Rachel Green from NBC’s hit show Friends. Playing the role of Rachel gave Jennifer a swag of awards, Her most acclaimed were her Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series, Comedy Or Musical. But it was Jennifer’s private life that people were most interest in.
After Jennifer and Brad Pitt wed in 2000, media sites around the world couldn’t get enough of the couple. Not a day went by when there wasn’t a magazine cover, or an online new’s article showing what the pair were up to. For seven years, the couple looked happy and very much in love, so it came as a bit of a shock in 2005 when it was revealed that Brad and Jen had spilt up. And it was even more of a shock when media sites started blaming Brad’s Mr and Mrs Smith co-star Angelina Jolie for their break-up.
It has been 12 years since the last episode of Friends aired on television, and it has been just as long since she moved on from Brad Pitt – thank goodness! I can’t help myself, I just have to say this – It is a little ironic that stories surrounding Brad and Angelina of late have cited “marriage” problems. According to the Inquisitr, Hollywood Life, In Touch Weekly and just about every other online mag, the star once voted as the Sexiest Man Alive, has been getting a little cosy with his Five Seconds of Silence co-star Marion Cotillard. If it’s true, then I have one thing to say – Karma baby, Karma!!
Thankfully Jennifer put all that drama behind her, a long time ago. These days she is more than happy sharing her life with long time partner Justin Theroux, the multi talented screen writer, directer and star of the the HBO series The Leftovers. As Jennifer recently told Laura Brown from Harpers Bazaar “Married life is so normal and fun and not much different,” she said… “We felt married for so long.” But what is it about Justin that makes Jennifer so happy? “I’m lucky because Justin is the funniest person I’ve met, and we make each other laugh. Laughter is one of the great keys to staying youthful.” I couldn’t agree more.
It seems that Jennifer has also reached a turning point in her career. These days, she would like to work on projects that make it worth her while. “I really have to love something to be leaving my home, my dogs, my husband. The older you get, the more you realize that.” she told Laura. “I can do other things. I feel a sense of freedom that I hadn’t necessarily felt before. Also, you have to start taking chances in an industry that’s very insecure about taking chances on people.” Especially when you’ve become so famous. “People forget who actors are. They say, ‘You’re too known to play that part. You can’t disappear.’ And we’re like, ‘Give us a chance. We’ll disappear.'”
It isn’t just Jennifer’s love life, or her career goals that has had tongues waging. Her fabulous figure and glowing skin has left many of us wondering – what’s her secret? It seems working out 5 days a week, resisting sugar and eating lots of salads is working for her. “I feel better in my 40s. For me, in my 30s I was just trying to figure it all out. Then when you hit 40, you’re like, ‘Oh, okay. I got this.’ We just take better care of ourselves.” I hear you Jen – I hear you 🙂
Jennifer has a new movie, Mothers Day, due for release across Australia in late April. Check your local cinema guides for more details.
