St Kilda’s Romantic Rococo

I love it when Mitch says “let’s go out for dinner” …for numerous reasons. 1 – I don’t have to cook. 2 – he doesn’t have to cook and 3 – we don’t have to let the kids cook and trust me, out of options 2 and 3, I don’t know which is worse! 🙂 Our fridge in the garage is stocked full of left overs for just such occasions. When we don’t feel like cooking, there’s always a great healthy choice only a short stroll away. At the moment we have lasagna, chicken and leak pie, beef stroganoff, fettucine and minestrone. It sure beats KFC! But last night Mitch said those magic words, and after he made reservations we told our youngest to choose something from the freezer out back. Her response, “It’s ok mum, I’ll cook up 2 minute noodles!” Why do I bother? Healthy food v’s constipation, I guess I should buy some Metamucil next time I’m at the supermarket!

Acland Street in St Kilda is always a hive of activity. I haven’t seen anyone swallow a sword for a while, but the atmosphere, the fabulous cafes, delis and restaurants still make the area a great place to take a loved one. If I had to guess, I would say we go out for dinner in St Kilda about once a month, and more often than not we visit one of the fabulous restaurants in Acland Street. Last night, we went to Rococo, known for its sumptuous Italian cuisine and fabulous service, Rococo is one of the best places to visit. It has that sexy mood lighting, candles and the staff are the best when it comes to taking care of its customers.

Last night we ate an assortment of goodies. To start off we shared a few platters – Warm Ciabatta, Char-Grilled Calamari and a tasting plate of Smoked Salmon with potato (which reminded me of my father’s home made creamy potato salad). It was so romantic sitting in our little corner, watching the world go by while we relaxed with a few glasses of bubbly. The staff was fantastic while we were struggling with what to choose for a main course. Mitch ended up having the Calabrese/Salami Pizza and I chose Seafood Linguine. The only issue I had was not enough prawns, but the meal was still mouth-watering. We will be going back again soon.

If you are looking for a romantic place to take your loved one, then I highly recommend Rococo along Acland Street and experience the vibrancy that is St Kilda.
