Damn I love this woman! She would have to be one of the most inspirational woman of all time. I know that’s a big calling, but as far as I am concerned, Oprah is quiet simply one of a kind. It’s not just her wisdom or her compassion that I find so compelling, it is the way she shares herself. All the lessons she has learnt in her life, all the ups and down, because god knows there has been a few, she simply opens her heart to anyone who is willing to listen to her. And she never holds back, she may choke up every now and then, but she wipes her eyes and continues to talk about everything she has learned in her life. And she is not judgemental, she just wants us all to think about who we are, what we want and to appreciate and experience the most from our lives.
We all make mistakes, it is a part of life. I know that, you know that, hell we all know that. But how many of us learn from those mistakes? How often do we think about what we have done? The decisions we have made? As Oprah’s says in the above interview – “There are no wrong paths, there is no such thing as failure!” and I agree 100%. When we make terrible choices in life such as dating or marrying the wrong person, accepting a job we don’t want, or even those day-to-day decisions we know are going to come back to bite us on the ass, we have a choice. Learn from those bad decisions, take a moment and think about what we really want and work towards it.
“Your life is bigger than any one experience” – Oprah. “We all should all learn to relax” Easier said than done, but she is right. I know I can’t think straight when I am all flustered, and I am sure you can’t either! When I am all in a ‘tizz’ I know I make some of the worst decisions, because I haven’t taken the time to chill out, to think about the consequences. But it’s not the end of the world, we can still turn a bad decision into a right one. We can still make plans, we still have the opportunity to work towards making our lives the best we can.
For me, Oprah helps put things into perspective. When I watch old episodes of her talk show or listen to her interviews on YouTube, I have this “O” moment. And no it’s not Oprah as such 🙂 its OH, why didn’t I think of this, or OH…how did I loose myself? It’s a light bulb moment – flash – aha, yes – I get it now! Sometimes I feel like slapping myself, I needed Oprah to wake me up?!! But you know what? We are not perfect, none of us, Oprah’s not, that how she learned all that she knows, from making mistakes. But we all have a choice, we can keep on living the lives that we are, or we can make them better. It’s all up to us – what will your choice be?
