Me Before You is the new romantic drama by New Line Cinemas and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, scheduled for release in cinemas across Australia next month. The movie stars two of Hollywood’s up and coming actors, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) and Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games Series). Me Before You looks to be aimed at the younger market (mid to early 20’s) but I don’t care, I still think it will be great to see. Based on the bestselling novel by Jojo Moyes, Me Before You is the first book from her much-loved and deeply moving series.
Me Before You tells the story of two young people whose lives become forever entwined. Louisa is a young woman who lives with her family in a small country town in England. With very few qualifications and no clear direction in life, the quirky 26-year-old flutters from job to job. Her normally cheery outlook is put to the test when she becomes caregiver and companion to a wealthy young banker named Will.
Will was a high achieving and wealthy man who enjoyed life to its fullest until a tragic accident left him permanently disabled. No longer the adventurous soul he once was, the now cynical Will has all but given up, that is until Louisa shows up at his family’s home. Will tries to be bossy and controlling, but Louisa refuses to treat him with kid gloves and soon his happiness means more to her than she expected. When she learns that Will has shocking plans of his own, she sets out to show him that life is still worth living.
Me Before You is scheduled for release Across Australia on June 16th. Check your local cinema guides for more information. In the meantime watch the teaser trailer above and let me know what you think.
