I was on the Pandora jewellery website earlier today looking for something significant for my birthday next month when I noticed some gorgeous charms (like that was going to be difficult). One was a design of a small book and reading glasses (how appropriate) and the other was an astrological sign. The Scorpio Openwork Charm looked beautiful and I could see it on my bracelet or even on a necklace but I wasn’t sure. I really don’t follow horoscopes, in fact I really don’t understand astrology at all. I don’t even know what my star sign means. Maybe I should find out…
So while sitting in front of my laptop I opened another tab and typed in Astrology. Big mistake! Like religion, astrology means something different in every culture around the world… so much for getting some basics facts. I knew this online escapade would take a while. Despite all the different beliefs one thing remained the same, for thousands of years men and women have looked to the stars for divine meaning. Human affairs, terrestrial events… when Robbie Williams will release another album 🙂 But it’s not just about the movement and relative positions of celestial objects. According to most of the websites I looked at, it also has a lot to do with which time of the year you were born.
Being born on the 5th of November made me a Scorpio, so what does that mean? I didn’t want to take a crash course on Youtube and I didn’t want to download a map and wonder around my tiny backyard waiting for the smog to clear so I could work out where the hell Pluto was! So I went back to google to read pages upon pages of enough crap to make my eyes water. I finally came across the website, www.astrology-zodiac-signs.com and I have to say this – it was really fascinating! I couldn’t help but laugh a few times, and I also couldn’t help but wonder: is this me?
This is what my star sign said – try not to laugh…I did!!
* Scorpio-born are passionate and assertive people. (umm, yeah….could be on the money)
* They are determined and decisive, and will research until they find out the truth (It’s just a blog damn it 🙂
* Scorpio is a great leader, always aware of the situation and also features prominently in resourcefulness. They are also very dedicated to what they do. (I like to get to the bottom of things, is that so bad?!)
* Scorpios hate dishonesty and they can be very jealous and suspicious, so they need to learn how to adapt more easily to different human behaviours. (I dislike bullshit but jealousy…ummm…me…nah!)
* Scorpios are brave and therefore they have a lot of friends. (awww shucks)
There was so much information about being a Scorpio, and I have to admit reading all the information gave me goosebumps. It felt like everything I read was about me, all my good qualities as well as my faults. There was also information regarding – how to attract a Scorpio man, how to attract a Scorpio woman. Information regarding careers and money, love and even sex… it was all on this website. Do I know who made it? No… I found it while researching my star sign, but one thing is for sure…it’s made me a tad freaked out. “The woman born under the Scorpio star sign is curious, so in order to keep her happy, you will need to find new ways to satisfy her curiosity. If you can allow her to retain her pride, she will respect you for it and will fall in love with you quickly.” Awww….tingles 🙂
Suffice to say, I printed off lots of pictures of the Pandora charm and left them in a few places where Mitchell can find them. Like the door of his beer fridge, sticky taped on the ignition switch of his boat, even on the tv in his man cave. Just a few hints 😉 And if I get a Scorpio Openwork Charm for my birthday, I will wear it with pride.
